For a more in depth description of the people, places, and things
in this synopsis,
read the PPT file. I had originally planned the PPT file to be
separate but I decided
not to trouble the maintainer more than necessary so I put the
file on the end of the
Synopsis.



Part one
The story opens several hundred years in our future. The
Exploration vessel: Expedition,
has found a space dwelling life form.[enter: captain Wyatt
Simms&1st officer Janice Vaughn]
They are in the neutral zone between their Republic and the
unfriendly Regime so they are
escorted by a fighter squadron dubbed Vega as well as the
powerful mercenary ship; Flare. They
extend their sensors and begin to scan the creature just as the
Flare reports in after finding no
hostile ships in the area.[enter: Flare pilot Freeland Stone&
Copilot Janice Vaughn] The creature
begins to respond on the same frequency as the scans and the
captain orders the communications
people to see if they can interpret the response. Meanwhile the
scans have turned up some
interesting information on the creature (see the PPT file). The
com. guys finish interpreting the
response and say they can send a "hello" to the creature. The
captain gives them an ok. The
creature does not respond as they expected. It flares out its
tentacles in a threatening manner and
begins building up energy. The Expedition raises its shields
just as the captain notices a symbol
beneath the creatures main arm. The creature then slams the
Expedition with a huge blast of
energy.
We now move to Vista station. [enter: Erin Simms, Daniel Rouge,
Adam King, Janice
White, Leon Bain, & Alysa Geran] The conversation of the Avian
Light squadron gives a bit of
an idea of their personalities. The squad has been put on notice
for some mission they know
nothing about. Only that they will get to fly some new
experimental fighters. Leon explains that
the fighters are as close to copies of the Flare as they can get
and still have just one fifth the
Flare's power. There is a model of one of them siting on a desk
beside him.. Erin finally gets a
message from command and takes it in her office. She does not
come out for quite some time.
When Adam goes to see what is wrong, she tells him that the
Expedition is gone and seems
genuinely upset.(look at Wyatt's last name..). She comes out and
with no signs of distress,
informs her squadron that they are to use the new fighters to
investigate the Expedition incident.

Part two
[enter: USC Intelligence agents/commanders(?)
Mr.G.Johnson&Mr.F.Johnson]
Somewhere in a dark corner of the Republic these two are
discussing a project DB. Leviathan
and how to cover it up. They somehow know about the creature's
appearance and think it has a
direct link to this project so they order a "cleanup" Back on the
Expedition Vega(now called
Zeta squadron) is tying futilely to launch their fighters as
chaos breaks loose. The Expeditions
engines explode as they try to escape.[enter: Zeta 4&5] The two
remaining fighters outside are
hitting the creature with all they have but to no avail. The two
on the Flare cannot decide which
side they want to come in on! The creature hits the Expedition
again and Captain Simms orders
all hands to abandon ship. Things get worse as a far larger
creature (apparently female) comes out
of hyperspace right in the middle of things. As the life pods on
the Expedition are launching the
male creature brings the crippled ship to the female as if it
were some kind of food.. It is around
this time that Simms calls the male creature Adam.1st officer
Vaughn has stayed behind with the
captain against orders. The captain tells her that the creatures
will not eat the ship in space..
However the creatures are heading for a nearby planet.. Simms
remarks about Adam and Eve
heading to Eden.. The two fighters begin to follow the creatures
but are casually knocked out of
commission by an electric blast from the Flare. The Flare the
follows the creatures as they head
to the planet.
Hours later at the site of the encounter on of the pilots of the
crippled Zeta fighters sees a
ship coming to the rescue. However the ship is the Jsu Jin and it
is there to carry out the cleanup
for USC Intel. The Jsu Jin opens fire and destroys the fighters.
The ship then messages its
superiors that all survivors have been dealt with two exceptions
and it is about to head to the
planet; Eden.
Back at vista the A.L. squadron is leaving on a larger ship.
They are readying for a test
run of the new fighters before heading out to where the
Expedition was last reported. Dan is
hitting on Alyssa and annoying the commander. Janice uses a VR
probe to scout the area and
then two of the new fighters piloted by Dan and Alyssa head out
for their first run.

Part 3
Freeland and Mira follow closely behind the creatures as they
head the planet. They seem
to be hoping to find the creatures home and possibly snatch a
baby to sell for lotsa $$$. (if there
are any babies there). However they pick up a distress signal as
well as life signs. The
mercenaries have a change of heard and decide to go and try to
rescue the survivors. There could
be a big reward and good PR in it for them anyway if they succeed
The creatures have taken
the Expedition into one of the planets oceans so Freeland lands
the flare and they follow them
under water using some heavily armored mobile suites. They see
the Expedition just as it is
sliding down the female creature's throat and follow it down.(one
big monster) they reach the
creature's stomach (?) and find that an even bigger ship as been
swallowed as well.(reeealy big
monster) The survivors of the larger and badly damaged ship seem
to have set up a makeshift base
in there..

Part 4
[Enter:Grimlock, Atheus] We move to the Regime homeworld, Iao. A
rough looking group of pirates,
apparently under the command of a cyborg named Grimlock, have
landed and are conducting busines
with a Regime officer. The officer, named Atheus, gives the
priates an energy absorbing device
in exchange for something he refers to as the controller stone.
He has apparently been looking
for this device for quite some time.
Back in space, Alysa and Daniel are having fun testing out the
new fighters. Suddenly
Alysa anounces that she is ejecting and her com falls silent.

Part 5
The first pages in this part are a recap of the first four parts
as well as background on the story
On Vista station, chairman Gahn Jhonson (from part2) is adressing
a grim faced audience. He
explains that the creature was first seen 100 years ago. It was
incredibly powerful and
studies of it,before it dissapeared, were the basis of much of
the technology in use at
the time of this story. The expedition had recently rediscovered
the creature and for some
reason the creature attacked and destroyed the ship. He says that
the fate of the crew and
the Flare are unknown. The Avian Light squadron was testing some
new fighters that were based
scans of the incredibly powerful flare for use in a rescue
mission. One of the fighters exploded
so AL will not be able to use the new fighters. Gahn goes on to
say that Atheus(from part5)
is heading for Eden (where the creatures are at: pt2) and that
he(Gahn) has already mobilized
the Republic's 5th battle fleet to intercept them. It seems that
Gahn has overstepped his
bounds a bit. The audience is enraged at the fact that Ghan
launced a battle fleet without the
council's approval. However they can do nothing since the heavily
armed guards in the meeting
hall are taking orders from Ghan.
On the Regime battleship; Ion, Atheus is headed for Eden. One of
his crew expresses
concern over the fact that they are about to be attacked by both
the Regime's main fleet and
the Republic fleet. The Republic will reach them first in two
hours. Atheus is not worried.

Part 6
Even though he is sure of victory Atheus has recruited some
help for extra security.
A regime Captain Wolf joins Atheus with his carrier ship and
small fleet of battleships.
He would have been waiting for atheus somewhere along the way to
Eden. He is also very
concered about their situation. At this rate the Republic will
get to them before they
reach Eden. Atheus explains that the planet they are currently
headed for is not eden,
he just wants the Republic and Regime fleets to think it is. He
sends a navigation display
to the Captain. He says that shortly they will be exactly in
between the two pursuing fleets.
When they are, they will change course for the real Eden
indicated on the screen. The two
fleets wil come into firing range of each other before they catch
Atheus and Wolf.[draw
a *very* long triangle and you will see how this works] Atheus
expects them to shoot first
and ask questions later. When asked how he knows where Vista is
he says "Our freinds in the
Republic really know how to conduct research"
Back on Vista Gahn leaves one of his Cohorts in charge and goes
to talk with Frank Jhonson
Frank is questioning the power of the creature and the controller
stone. Ghan Johnson now
begins to reveal his true intentions. He plans to use the
creature as an excuse to pit the
largest Republic fleet against the largest Regime fleet. Gahn
states that "We should be able
to overcome the remnants with our own fleets". While this might
be a stretch if they were to
gain controll of the creatures their vicory would be a sure
thing. Even if the Creatures are
not that powerful or the stone doesn't work they may still have a
chance.
(he does not directly state what his ultimate goal is)
He revealed that he ordered the sabotage of the Avian Light
fighters.
Frank however, informs them that Avian Light did not return the
new fighters before
continuing and they also took their old fighters along.
Ghan is disturbed but says that the Hsu Jin Chu should intercept
them before they can do
anything with the new fighters. The Flare is his only big
concern. He fears interference
from the Flare and the A.L. fighters and not just because of
their fighting power. There
seems to be something special about these ships that he fears may
cause trouble even if
the controller stone works but he doesn't have time to explain.
He then asks Frank if they have the loyalty of the 4th battle
fleet and Frank says yes.
Frank then asks if Gahn knows how many people will die because
them and if this has been
Ghan's plan all along. Gahn says that if he can't trust his own
family he can trust no
one and then asks Frank if he has his loyalty. Frank pauses and
says "... yes.."
On board a light carrier ship the Avian Light squadron is headed
out to investigate.
Erin and Adam are discussing what happened to Alysa. It will
likely be two weeks before she
recovers. (this is far into the future) Erin says that Janice is
repairing the new fighters
and has almost figured out what is wrong. She apparently doesn't
want her squad to face
whatever took out the Expedition in outdated fighters. Suddenly
Leon pages Erin and Adam.
They have come upon the destroyed life pods. Infuriated, Erin
orders Leon to get one of the
pods data boxes and to try and figure out what happeded. She
orders Daniel to the hyperspace
trail of any ship leaving the area so they can follow it. They
follow the trail to Eden where
they incounter the Hsu Jin Chu ( from part2). Just in time Leon
learns from the data that it
was the HJC that destroyed the pods. Daneil (piloting the ship)
jumps them to a neaby asteroid
belt. The HJC emerges right on their tail and fires, barely
missing. It is too big to navigate
an asteroid feild so it launches eight fighters to attack the
carrier. Janice will not have the
new ships fixed for another ten minutes so they will have to go
face them in their standard
fighters. Erin lays out the plan kill the 8 fighters, return to
the carrier and change over to
the new ship, then go after the Hsu Jin Chu. "two on one nothing
new here"
Dan reminds them that their attackers are flying the same ships
and that Avian Light is unmatched
at flying them. With that the 4 fighters launch.

Part 7 The story switches to Freeland and Mira who have just
entered the Creature (part 3).
They find themselves in a much larger space than they expected.
The tents turn out to
be uninhabited. They detect some signals belonging to a high
ranking officer on the Expedition
and fly there as fast as they can. It appears that they are not
inside a creature
but on a strange planet!
As they approach the Ship they notice that it looks very very old
and it is overgrown with plants
. They find the source of the signal on the Expedition's bridge.
It is 1st officer Janice Vaughn
and as it turns out, she is an android. She explains that they
are in a universe created by
the creature. Time flows differently in this universe and for
her, over 541 years and 5 months have
passed. The rest of crew died trying to find a way to escape this
dimension but she continued
their work and finally suceeded. She tells them that she has
unlocked the secret of ADAM (what
they call the creature). On the last page she says "It is in my
Data bank. That poor child."

Part 8 The Avian Light squadron (sans Alyssa and Janice) engages
the eight fighters from the
Hsu Jin Chu. Daniel and Erin in one group Adam and Leon in the
other. Three enemy fighters
fall quickly but Leon runs into trouble. He strays out into range
of the cruiser and gets
clipped by its main cannon. His ship begins to fall to the planet
and his com. is silent.
Erin decides to go after him and leaves Daniel in charge. It is
unknown whether her descision
to go after him was a product of rational thinking or all the
recent stress is starting to
get to her.

Part9
In the creature's world Mira and Freeland are considering their
situation.
They are discussing a way to get out. This way has a 35% change
of ending in disaster.
Freeland says that they have to take their chances, esecially
given the unstable nature
of the world they are in. Mira has her doubts about Janice's
plan.
"to understand how the universe works, 500 years is a rush" Some
distance away Janice
Vaughn climbs a hill covered with the graves of her former
crewmates. She recalls
Capt. Simms speaking of the device that may be the only way out
of the creature's world
and may be the only way to communicate with the creature.
Simms was too ill to continue work on the device but he assumed
that the creature could
transport them out of that world. The completion of the device
came too late for the captain,
Simms was never able to see his home again.

Part 10
On the Republic homeworld of Callisto, word of Adam's existance
and the Republic Fleet's
imminent battle with the Regime has reached the people. Riots
have been taking place for
the last two days. A counicl spokesman tried to clam the people
saying that no danger faces
their sodiers abroad [yea right :)] Of course none of the USC
council members were
availible to comment. (remember part5?). Inside A bar, Grimlock
is enjoying a meal served
up by the cook, Garran. Garran is apparently an old aquantance of
Grim's. He thanks Grimlock
for finding the EMP device so quickly and asks him what he
thinks of the USC "fiasco".
Grim agrees that it is a fiasco and begins to tell a tail about a
man named Muir Grimme
and the Flare. He says that he was a scientist wroking at the
vista station during its
first years in operation. He then reveals the truth about the
Flare. He tells of a baby
creature ,Kain, found adrift in space that they outiftted with
metal and used to create
the most powerful fighter in existance. He wanted the Flare's
power for himself and
decided to steal it. He destroyed most of the new station and all
of the research staff
in his getway. "oh well". He then goes on to tell how he lost the
Flare. He "convinced"
a test pilot named Stone to help him steal the Flare. In his
escape he was wounded and
after they had gotten the ship away from the station Stone
ejected him.
He goes on to tell Garan that the control stone that he gave
Atheus will not work without
a certain power source. He plans to use Atheus to help him
capture both the Flare
and the creature.
So the story now moves to Atheus. On the Ion, one of the bridge
crew is telling him that
the two pursuing fleets are nearly in range. Atheus then gives
the order to set a full
course for the real Eden. The captain orders the fleet to
battlestations and to prepare
to engage.
Now on Eden, Freeland and Mira are startled by a blast of energy
rocketing into space.
Janice Vaughn has activated the communication device. They rush
to the device. Just
as they arrive they detect the Flare. The Flare's auto locating
signal is interfering
with the comm device.. They watch as a disruption in space-time
begins to tear the
device apart.
Back in space. The gigantic Republic Carrier "Trinity" and the
smaller battle
ships of the 5th fleet are cruising toward the the Regime
forces.

Part 11
Picks up with Janice being caught up in the expanding disruption
and hurled into the
air. Mira catches her in mid air using her mobil suit. The
device is gone but the Flare
emerges from the disruption and draws them all in with a tractor
beam. The flare and its
passengers come out of the disruption back on Eden an just a few
minutes after they first
entered the creature. They decide to wait to see what effect
their actions had on the
creature. Freeland is uncharacteristicly concerned about the fate
of the Expedition and
it's crew. He hints that he belives that the Flare affected the
creature's actions.
Mira emerges from the Flare with a new outfit and some patchwork
done. She agrees to help
monitor the creature and decides that it will likely awaken
within 24 hours.
Later the group on the ground detects a ship in orbit (using
those eye peice things
which are probably connected to the Flare's sensors). It is the
Hsu Jin Chu. Freeland puts the
Flare in stealth mode, not for protection, but so they can
observe unnoticed. The next day a
smaller republic ship (A.L.'s carrier) arrives. Freeland&co. are
shocked when the HJC opens
fire and the smaller ship barely gets away. The group on the
ground watches as Betta squad,
outnumbered 2:1 not including the HJC, Trashes a bunch of enemy
fighters one of them (leon)
strays too far and they watch as he goes down. With some
coersion Freeland is convinced to rescue
the falling ship.

Part 12 3D part :)
The Flare rockets toward Leon's ship and snaggs it with a
tractor beam. Unfortunatly
Three ships have arrived (probably to aid the HJC) and launced
six fighters to intercept the Flare.
It seems the weight of the smaller ship is greatly slowing the
Flare down and the enemy fighters
are closing in fast *. They need to ditch the fighter quickly but
that would send
Leon to a firely end. Two missiles are fired from the enemy
ships and are closing in fast.

*Given the Flare's power it would probably not even feel the
weight of the smaller ship but
this detail didnt really have a big impact on the story so no big
deal...


Part 13
With the missiles drawing closer, Janice decides to take action.
The Flare's hatch
opens and Janice jumps out tethered by a long cord (she is also
not wearing a helmet).
She cuts through the fighter's canopy and pulls out the dazed
Leon, who thinks he is
being rescued by an angel. With Janice and Leon back inside the
fighter is released,
the Flare pulls up, and the missiles fly between the two ships.
The Flare does a quick
turn and opens fire on the attacking fighters which are easily
destroyed.
Then to the amazement of Erin (she was also trying to aid Leon)
the flare executes
a fast hyperspace jump. It comes out right in front of the HJC
and fires on the large cruiser.
The Hsu Jin Chu never even had time to raise its sheilds and is
destroyed.
The Flare and Avian Light return to light carrier 074. Leon
seems to be in pretty good
shape although he is still going on about seeing an angel. Janice
delivers the bad news
regarding the fate of Capt. Simms to Erin and gives her his pin
which contains his last words.


Currently: The Lagest Fleets of the Republic and Regime are about
to clash.
Hsu Jin Chu is space dust and apparently the three new ships
hightailed it back to their fleet after
seeing what happened to the HJC.
Atheus and his Fleet are on their way to Eden.
When the 3 ships rejoin their fleet they will know of the
situation on Eden.
Grimlock is scheming to capture both the creature and the Flare.
All the protagonists are aboard light carrier 074
Leon is injured but consious.
Alysa is still recovering.

Notes to future writers:

What is the secret of Adam? (this is a big one)
Is Frank Jhonson having second thoughts?
What is that thing under Erin's eye?
Only Adam has called Erin by her first name.
What *exactly* is the Control Stone? What will be Gahn's next
action? What about Vista?
Who first used the Avian Light manuver?
How does Grimlock intend to capture both the Flare and the
Creature?
In the future, the lifespans of people will be much longer.
With all the protagonists in one place this is a good time for
some character developement.
When will Alysa and Leon recover?
Atheus' fleet should not be far from Eden.
Grimlock has said that Atheus does not have all he needs to
activate the Control stone.
Avian Light's new fighters should be fixed and ready to go now.
One of them is pictured in part one sitting on a desk (a model).
The other is shown in part two.

Some things that were posted on the BBS a while back:
The fighters sent out by the Regime ships look a lot like
Republic fighters.. Something to be
explaned in another part or time for a new fighter design?

The Republic standard fighters look like a + when veiwed from the
front.. They have four
engines and one main part in the middle. Each engine has a
sheild generator on the side.
I blame this mistake on my poor artwork in part one (where they
first appeared)
If no one wants to use this design, it needs to be decided what
they should look like
and then we can stick with that look.

The fighters would not have jet engines.
This is a time of energy sheilds and faster than light travel.
they might spew energy from their engines but it wouldnt be
flames.


If you see that I missed something in the synopsis or you have

This is something I wanted get oppinions from the other writers
about. Send any comments to

I hope Avi continues going for a good while longer but as the
story stands it could easily
end within a roster full of parts (6 I think) I dont want to
just say the story is ending
in x number of parts becuase if left up to the writers to come it
may go on for much
longer.. but at the same time I dont want people to try and keep
it going if the story
is heading toward and ending... In other words I dont want an
ending date or lack there of to infulence the story.
I want to be able to have the story end when the story comes to
an ending.. but If this
happens with people on the list waiting to do parts that would
not be fair.. So here is my
idea... When it seems that an ending is could be near, an "ending
warning" will be placed
after the last name on the list.. This will not affect the story
or the writers ahead of
that warning.. but writers after it will sign up knowing that the
story could go into
ending mode at any time and if it does before their part they
could be asked to follow a
loose story outline (not a step by step "this happens and then
this") to prepair the
story for the ending. I hope to work with a few of the other
contributer's to this impro
(if they have any desire to do so) to make sure Avi goes out with
a blast :)






People Places and Things. This is a reference collection of most
of what has been introduced
in the story so far. I plan to update it as new PPTs are
introduced and old ones change.


The Republic: Not too much has been said about the nature of the
republic itself.
It seems to be what the current US. government and most likely
others have evolved
into after several hundred years. Judging from the massive ships
and the space born
city/fortress , Vista, it is a very powerful nation and it
probably includes more than
a couple planets. Since there are even more billions of people in
the future even people
in the military are allowed to customize their outfits a bit for
individuality. For the
most part I would say the republic is good and just but it has
its dark side (read on).
Even though the Republic is mostly good there are those who would
bring about its downfall
to further their own desires.

Callisto. The Republic homeworld. From what has been seen of
Callisto in the story,
it is home to huge cities and no telling how many people.. It
hasnt been said how
well guarded Callisto is, but Grimlock managed to find his way to
the surface..

Vista Station: A city/fortress of one million people. It is the
embodiment of republic power.
Its huge spaceport that can accommodate the largest of ships
makes it a center of commerce.
The largest ships must dock outside but its four gaping entryways
can allow moderate size
craft to fly right inside and receive the protection of an inside
docking port.
The station is also a large military base that is home to many
lage cruisers and fighter
squadrons. Even without the warships station there Vista would
still be a force to reckon
with. Massive guns are visible from a great distance and hundreds
of retractable batteries
hide beneath the surface. The armament of the station is
considered impenetrable.
In its early years Vista was home to a research facility where
Project DBL was
being carried out. When Grim made his getaway with the Flare, the
facility was destroyed and
much of the Vista with it.. It has not been said what was
officialy
said to be cause of the explostion.


Avian Light: Formally called Beta Squadron They gave themselves
the name Avian Light after
the tactical maneuver of the same name. They are the most
skillful of the squadrons based at
Vista.

Commander Erin Simms: A great leader and pilot, she comes from a
long line of military
officers. Like her father, she keeps her cool in almost any
situation even in the face
of personal loss. She has been under a tremendous amount of
stress though, and there is
simply a limit to how much a person can take. The device
underneath her
left eye is a mystery..

Daniel Rouge: Second in command. He is certainly not mean
spirited but he uses a bit of
bravado now and then especially when he is flying. The fact that
he
is the only one with a "wings" pin on his shoulder belt suggests
that he might very well
be capable of backing it up. His fellow pilots know that there is
no better person to have
on their wing.

Adam King: The oldest member of the AL. squad. He still retains
a sense of humor despite
his age. He is the peacemaker of the team and often lends support
and advice to his comrades.
Erin frequently speaks to him about missions or just to have
conversation.


Janice White: The youngest member of the squad. She makes up for
any lack of experience
with enthusiasm. She is a whiz with any kind of electronics and
keeps the AL squads fighters
in perfect shape. She is skillful enough in a fighter to keep
pace with the others.


Leon Bain(pron. Bane): Leon so outclassed the other junior pilots
in the academy that Avian Light
was the first squad he was assigned to. However, he quickly
discovered that he was no longer the
best flying alongside pilots like Adam and Daniel. His desire to
prove himself leads him to
to take unessesary risks at times. The writing on his shoulder
guard says "ground elite" and there is a
sword/lightsaber engraved on the side. It is doubtful that this
is just a decoration..

Alysa Geran: The loner. She generally keeps to herself and stays
serious. She is very
knowledge full and diligent. Alysa was taken out of the fight
early due to her sabotauged
fighter exploding during test runs. It is unknown if she will be
well enough to help out
before it is all over.

Sangkhone&Khonesavanh. These are the Republics newest fighters.
Almost all of
their systems were created from information gathered from scans
of the Flare.
The Sanghkhone is the more heavily armored of the two. The
Khonesavanh is lighter
but faster and more manuverable. (I think the Khonesavanh is the
model shown on pg11.
There is a pic of the Sanhkhone in the Fan-Art section)
They are rumored to be five times as powerful as the old 4-engine
fighters. However,
given the true identity of the Flare (read on) they may be more
more powerful
than anyone suspects.
The Avian Light squadron was to use them on their mission but
after sabotauge
caused on of them to explode, they were ordered to return them to
Vista.
Commander Simms decided to ignore that order and took them along
anyway.
On Avian Light's small carrier the problem was found and repairs
were initiated.



Avian Light(the maneuver): A ship traveling in hyperspace
generates a hyperspace field to
allow it to travel at that speed. When it discharges energy
weapons in hyperspace the
energy meets the edge of the field and can go no further because
it cannot get ahead of the
field. As the fighter continues to fire the energy can build up
and even envelope the
fighter causing it to look like a flaming light flying through
space.
To do it right: Must build sufficient energy mass or it will
dissipate as soon the ship comes
out of hyperspace. Must not come out of hyperspace too early or
it will do the same.
Must not let energy drift behind the fighter or it will become a
kamikaze maneuver.
If done right the ship will come out of hyperspace and a massive
cloud of energy will be
hurled at its target. There are only rumors of anyone pulling
this off and surviving.


Expedition: A rather large and advanced research vessel with a
crew of 15,000
(most of this crew is made up of scientists and their families).
Its huge front window
is typical of many recently built ships excluding warships. It
provides a view
to an enormous open area that encompasses the bridge and several
other Sections. Under the
window is a large front shield generator comes in handy soon
enough... Beneath that is the
latest in sensory equipment massive sensor packets can be
extended from the ship to
minimize interference. It has a docking bay and some imposing
weaponry. The huge sail like
protrusions from the end of the ship are hyperspace engines
typical of very large ships.
For all its technology it still ends up being a munchie for a
large, hungry ,space
creature...

Captain Wyatt Simms: His experience is the greatest reason he was
chosen to be the captain
of such an advanced vessel. He stays cool under almost any
situation. Usually he simply
trusts his 1st officer and crew and only makes the highest level
decisions. He leaves the
small routine things to his capable crew. The captain was
serving at the accademy when
studies were being done on the creature. The captain and the crew
of the Expedion were
Sucked into another diminsion by the creature. Due to the faster
movement of time in that
imension, the captain and his crew had died long ago trying to
escape when Freeland and Mira
arrived

1st Officer Janice Vaughn: She could easily be a captain of a
smaller ship. She knows her
job so well that frequently she knows the order before the
captain gives it.
Janice is the only one left when the mercinaries arrive. She
still lives
becase she was a robot all along. It is not known if anyone on
the Expedition knew this.

Vega/Zeta Squadron: Called Vega in part one and Zeta in the later
pages of part two. These
guys were escorting the Expedition. The ships they piloted were
the standard Republic
fighters.When the creature attacks, the pilots docked in the
Expedition do not even make
it out and only two of the fighters on the outside make it.. for
a while..

Vega/Zeta 4&5: These poor guys fight their hearts out in an
attempt to rescue the Expedition
until they are taken out of commission by the Flare. Finally they
are killed by a ship they
expected to rescue them.. RIP guys..


The Flare: At first glance it looks like nothing more than a
large streamlined fighter with
no hyperspace engines. Any crew that has fought with the flare
will say otherwise
(only a heavy cruiser could do this). Under the Flare's armor
lies one of the Republic's greatest
secrets. A baby creature, just like Adam. It has no will of its
own but responds its computer
control just as any other vessel. It is likely that it has many
of the abilites of the creature.
An estimate of its power exists (pg13) but in light of its true
identity, that estimate might
be a bit low. the new fighters that are in the possession of the
Avian Light squadron were
created from information gathered from covert scans of the Flare.

Freeland Stone: Just as his name implies, Freeland marches to his
own drummer. He respects
the lives of others but has no use for ranks or titles. Most
people in the republic have
heard the name Flare but almost none have heard of Stone. His
attitude is one of a person
who as been there and done that. Sometimes he is a bit too
overconfident and this can lead
to some dangerous situations. He was once a test pilot at Vista
when it was under construction.
Grim knew he was one of the better pilots and forced Stone to
help him steal the Flare.
When the injured Grim fell unconscious, Freeland ejected him.
Freeland soon found himself
as hunted as Grim. With Republic intel out to get him Freeland
took the Flare and dissapeared.

Mira Li: Even fewer people have heard the name of Freeland's
copilot. Mira has apparently
not been a part of the Flare's crew for very long. Her cautious
nature is a perfect match
for Freeland's sometimes overconfidence. She generally is in
charge of sensors and
engineering while Freeland commands the helm. Both of them share
weapon control. How she
came to be a part of the Flare is also a mystery.


USC Intelligence: Apparently what the CIA will be in a few
hundred years. At least certain
people in the agency if not the whole thing make up much of the
dark side of the Republic.
So far, it is not known if they are the only corrupt
organization in the Republic or if
there are others in the government that know what is going on. I
don't recall seeing what
USC stands for.. (Who needs the X-files?)

Ghan Johnson: A chairman in the USC command and head of USC
intel. Ghan has sought to gain
from the start. He has even joined forces with the Regime
commander Atheus to further
his plans. His plan has two sides.. One is to use Atheus to gain
control of Adam.
If this one fails for whatever reason, Ghan plans to use the
ensuing confusion to manipulate
the main forces of the Regime and Republic into destroying each
other. He then plans to seize
control using his personal fleet and Frank Johnson's fleet.

Frank Johnson: Apparently a relative of Ghan. Frank has not known
of the plan from the start
but is loyal to Ghan. Only time will tell if his loyalty or his
sense of right
and wrong will win out. He is the commander of the Republic's
fourth fleet.


Uss Hsu Jin: Sent by USC Intel. to carry out the clean up. These
guys mercilessly destroy
the helpless lifepods and the remaining two fighters.

The Regime: An old enemy of the Republic. Their conflict is
apparently quite old. In recent
years the war between the Regime and Republic has been a cold
one. Recent events threaten to
spark an all out war. Their technology is a bit dated compaired
to that of the Republic but
their determination makes them a formidable adversary.

Project DB. Leviathan: This was the codename of the project to
study the creatures and to
create the Flare. Until recent events blew the lid off, this was
the Republic's best kept
secret.


Adam: Appearing one page one ,this large and ugly creature seems
to
be raising chaos on the border between the Regime and the
Republic. This creature has a
cellular form but no orgainic mater. Gathering energy with its
front arms(tentacles?),
it can shoot a tremendous blast of energy. Later in the story it
is revealed that Adam has
power greater than anyone expected. This entity can create a
separate dimension within itself.
Its true nature and origin is unknown.

Female space creature(Eve?): Seen in part two. This large swollen
creature seems to have
dropped out of the story.. She is the one that swallows the ships
but later parts seem to
indicate the existance of only one..

Eden. Apparently Adam's home in this part of space. For an
unknown reason, Eden is not
detectable on long range scanns. There is an uninhabited planet
listed as Eden on star charts
but those charts are very wrong.

Grimlock. Once a scientist named Muir Grimme working on project
Deep Blue Leviathan at Vista.
Grim was so enrapt with the power of the Flare that he had to
have it for himself. He forced
a pilot named Stone to help him steal the fighter. Most of Vista
was destroyed in their escape.
During the escape Grim was severly wounded. After they had gotten
away from the station,
grim lost consciousness and Freeland wasted no time in ejecting
him.
from the fighter. For obvious reasons, Grimm had to lay low for
years following that incident.
He repaired his body using black market cybernetics, changed his
name to Grimlock, put together
a crew of cut throats and began a life as a pirate. However he
plans to make a comeback
in a big way.
