I vote for 1 and 13 --------------
1. Kekkou~chan "Pinky Promise" Art is very nice. Shading was well done. I particularly liked the shattering glass. Story is a little confusing. I had to read it a couple of times to figure it out. The first two characters were introduced very clearly, but the mistress wasn't. At first I thought it was the wife, because the wording could be interpreted as the pictures being what she did wrong.... yeah I'm pretty stupid sometimes.
2.wxp " Kang and Telly " ??? Previous Wxp MOM sub was just a beer and gum induced dream? I'm starting to get all confused with how this story progresses, is it s'posed to be one long story from month to month or is it s'posed to be a new seperate comic each month. I like the art, but the story needs some organization and a bit of clarification.
3.Ed Bangalan "To Get To The Other Side" It was too busy for what I was trying to do. I wanted to freeze time, but I kept jumping the camera view and it looked like things were still moving. I guess it's harder to say things are "still" when in comics every panel is like a still frame trying to simulate movement.
4.Elise Frappier " And Then there Was Silence " Hmmm. Cool flying naked girls. Not much happened, but the story seems to be progressing if slowly.
5. Eleanor (nornor) Yiu " Off Course!" I saw a version of the email in Freaky Stories on YTV once. I like this interpretation just as much. I especially like the outraged captain in diapers panel. Reminded me of Super Mario Brothers.
6. D_Art " Untitled" What's with D-art and quarters? Oh well this is a charming short story and I was pleasantly surprised by D-art's choice to not use his usual style.
7.Linnaly " Untitled " Poor Ryli. She's so sad she found her soulmate. She must've died in a previous life, for her to be so sad. Good use of space, but panel to panel flow could be clearer.
8. Yume " The Sometimes Pinky Swear" That's funny "no pinkies" ... I like the style and the screentone-like shading was a nice touch.
9.Bill Blume " And Then There Was Silence " I used to think realistic styles didn't work in comics, but I realize now it's because word bubbles don't exist in the real world and look awkward in realistic art. I think wording would have actually hurt this submission, I'm glad there wasn't any. The story flowed well and the art detail added so much to the story. I think I would have liked more wrinkles on the forehead of the lady on the last page to complete the realism feel.
10.AlexeCinz " And Then There Was Silence " Guilty as charged. GundamW fan here. I had the emulator and played the game to death, and still want to play some more. I agree completely that Shen long is the best character to use in the game. I only wish Gundams were included in this submission...
11. Julie Bihn " Lesson of the Kamiya Dojo (or The Kiss of Death!)" Kenshin is a really cool series, and this was a great tribute to it. LOL. Vibrant colors, ahh ... the glorious color!
12. Heather "Promise" The premise is interesting, but there really isn't much content to comment on. I'm glad the daughter never gave up hope, escpecially since 15 years is quite a long time.The art is pretty good, the perspective is a bit off, but with a little practice that won't be problem.
13. Ryeka " The Promise" Part One Bonus points for such hard work and using a style like AMG's, which I really like.The story was pretty good. Intelligent, but full of spelling and grammar mistakes. oh well, no one's perfect I guess.
14. Tang " Friends" Should I compare Tang to Rumiko Takahashi? Yeah why not? Tang is as wacky as Rumiko Takahashi. It's a really good story, with dynamic camera angles. Good stuff.
15. Waiji "In Our Silence" When you wish upon a star... makes no difference who you are... something something ... your dreams come truue ... that`s my impression of what this story`s about. I could be wrong. Same Waji art goodness, maybe a little rushed.
16. Meow Kitty "Then There was Silence" I`d be pretty scared if my appendages started talking too, but unlike the character in the story I think I`d try to make friends, or at least try to make money off my pinky freakishness.
17. OFU " Silent Invation" heh it's like one of them silent movies, all that ya needed ta do was make it look old and coloring it dark brown like or almost black like some of those Charlie Chaplin movies.
18. Yan Wen " the Y cast is on vacation" Late? LATE? what the heck does ne..cro..phe...phe.. uh necrophelia mean? Never mind I'll look it up. Great pic at the end.
