I voted for Ed Bangalan and Tang.
Comments:
"Pinky Promise" by Kekkou~chan: The art was great. The story came out of left field though, for me anyways, and had a bizzare ending. The last two pages really took away from the impact of the bizzare third page to. Also, I can see how she might kill the chick sleeping with her husband, but what was up with the doll? It just came out of nowhere.
"Kang and Telly" by WXP: WXP art is so clean and crisp... ;_; Uuuuuh. I didn't really get the story, but exploding beer always brings a smile to my face.
"To Get To The Other Side" by Ed Bangalan (VOTE!): Dude. I pick Ed Bangalan again. This so took advantage of the topic "A Moment of Silence" more than any other story. My only critism would be that it would have had more impact (literally and figuretively) if she had been hit by the car. But, I'm sure that there are counter explainations as to why this ending was better as well, so I won't go into it. I voted for this.
"And Then There Was Silence" by Elise Frappier: ... I like the gratuitious nudity, but don't really get it. I suppose this is either one of them "Continued next MOM" things, or one of those artsy comics I never understand.
"Off Course" by: Eleanor (nornor) Yiu: ... pretty funny. The best thing about this is that it shows that even Newfies are smarter than Americans. (Just kidding, Newfies ain't smart. ^_~)
"Untitled" by D_Art: I love them kids crack eyes. Somehow the art reminds me of one of those mexican artists... Gilbert Herandez or something... but I'm probably wrong. This made me laugh.
"Untitled" by Linnaly: >_< The scans are so dirty. It really detracts from the art and story. And the lettering is hard to read too. I can't really comment on this, 'cause I got sorta frustrated after page 3 and quit. ^_^;;;
"The Sometimes Pinky Swear" by Yume: Cute art. The scan is a little sloppy though. The last line describes this MOM better than I could, but there's nothing wrong with that as long as it makes me laugh, which it did.
"And Then There Was Silence" by Bill Blume: My drawing teacher would love you. Lots of graphyte used in the making of this MOM. And the pantimine was brilliant. The way you drew that kid was astounding, very ghostlike and haunting. 2 pages, yet it really hit home. I liked this one. "And Then There Was Silence" by AlexeCinz: ... I don't get it. The art was great, but I just didn't get it.
"Lesson of The Kamiya Dojo" by Julie Bihn: Ok. If I knew Kenshin, I bet this would have appealed more to me, but I did like it. It had some classic lines ("Kiss me like a MAN!"), and a quick sorta humour about it. All in all, it was ok. "Promise" by Heather: Dude. I'd vote for this just for "Why do Birds Suddenly Appear". Love that song. Very nice. A simple story, with a nice uplifting ending.
"The Promise Part One" by Ryeka: If you're going to be doing a continuing story, please put "Part One" or whatever on it. I totally thank this person for that. The art had a real mangaish sorta feel to it, befitting it's "Super Magical Girl" theme, though some panels were better than others. As for the story... it could work. But there seems to be to much of a back story behind the characters that isn't explained enough. What's a Stalicer? Why does Kalia have no memory? How did she end up living with Mala? Who is Deena anyways? In a short story, it's better not ot have characters you need to explain that much. Too much back story ruined this for me. The sudden change from "Shoujo Fighter" to love story i the middle confused me. Also, use of the word "Bestest" really through me for a loop, since there is no such word.
"Friends" by Tang (VOTE!): Dude. This was brilliant. I was so unprepared for the last page. I seriously thought she'd kill her best friend. A classic Tang "serious setup/hilarious punchline" comic. I so voted for this.
"In Our Silence" by Waiji: Ok. Waiji's are is, of course, astounding. But I don't get what just happened. I'm hoping part 3 will shed some light on this. But DAMN this is some good art.
"Then there was Silence" by Meow Kitty: Holy @#$%. Where did THAT come from!?! I love how our heroine comes to the logical conclusion that if her pinky talks, it must be evil, and therefore cut off.
"Silent Invation" OFU: I only did three panels. ^_^;;; I must apologize to Heather for slacking off on this. But, whoever finished it was brilliant. Nothing was more hilarious than when the Mountie throws over the table and yells, "C'MON!" I applaud whoever finished this. It's just so... Canadian. ;_; It brings a tear to my patriotic eye.
